Piet van der Meer
Piet van der Meer is trained as a biologist and a lawyer. From 1989 to 1999 he was in charge of biosafety regulation in the Netherlands. In the period 1999 to 2002 he managed a biosafety capacity building project in countries in Central and Eastern Europe. From December 2002 to May 2004 he managed the UNEP-GEF Projects on Implementation of National Biosafety Frameworks. Since August 2004 he is the director of the Belgium based HORIZONS sprl, which offers consulting in the fields of international environmental agreements, national policies and legislation related to environmental protection and sustainable development. Piet van der Meer also provides support to the establishment of the Public Research and Regulation Initiative, and is a Guest Professor at the Ghent University, Department Molecular Genetics, teaching area Safety in Plant Biotechnology, National and International Regulatory Systems. 

 

Zuzana Kulichova
Zuzana Kulichova finished her master degree in Environmental Science at the Wageningen University and Research Centre and afterwards, she obtained a master degree in Agricultural Economics at the Slovak Agricultural University. Since September 2007 she has been actively involved in the activities of Public Research and Regulation Initiative (PRRI) by participating at the Fourth Meeting of the Parties to the CPB as a part of her thesis ‘Regulatory constraints on the market release of GM crops in developing countries'. Currently she is the project leader of the EC FP6 project ‘Science4BioReg' that funds the basic activities of PRRI. She is also responsible for the administration of the foundation and its secretariat.
